Phase-I: Preliminary Examination Pattern

• The English Language Test will be of a qualifying nature, and the English Language Test marks will not be used to determine rank.
• Candidates will be shortlisted for the main exam based on availability and equal to 20 times the number of positions available in each category.
• There will be 0.25 or 1/4 of a mark deducted for every question attempted wrongly by a candidate, and each question carries one mark.
• The question paper will be both English and Hindi.
