SSC GD Syllabus and Exam Pattern: The SSC GD, or Staff Selection Commission General Duty, is a recruiting body that conducts a national-level exam to recruit qualified 10th-pass candidates for the positions of rifleman (general duty) and constable (general duty) in the following forces:

SSC GD Exam Pattern 

The most recent SSC GD notification states that the SSC GD Constable 2023 examination is mainly divided into four stages. All of the stages of the exam are compulsory. You will no longer be eligible for the SSC GD position if you fail at any stage. The following are the four stages:

  1. Computer-Based Examination (CBE),
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET),
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST),
  4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification

The exam format for each of the four stages has been described below.

Computer Based Examination (CBE) 

The SSC GD exam begins with the computer-based exam (CBE). A computer with the SSC GD Constable exam question paper is provided to the candidate at the examination center for the CBE exam, and the candidate must answer on the same computer.

The SSC GD CBE Exam Pattern Contains the Following Key Points:

  • The exam will be online and consist of multiple-choice questions.
  • The questions themselves will be written in both Hindi and English (bilangual).
  • There will be four sections on the exam paper: General Intelligence & Reasoning; General Knowledge and General Awareness; Elementary Mathematics; and English/Hindi.
  • There will be a total of 80 questions (each section with 20 questions) for a total of 160 marks (each section with 40 marks and each question carrying 2 marks ). The duration of the examination will be 60 minutes.
  • There will be a 0.50 mark penalty for each incorrect answer.
  • The questions asked in the online examination will be about high school (10th level).
  • The candidates who pass this stage will be selected for the PET and PST.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET) 

This test assesses the candidate’s physical fitness on the basis of height parameters, and he/she needs to undergo PET (Race), which is followed by a biometric/technology-aided identification test. Candidates have to clear the race within the following time limits:

  • If a woman candidate is found to be pregnant at least 12 weeks along, she will be temporarily disqualified, and her appointment will be held in abeyance until the baby is born. The position for which a woman candidate was chosen will remain hers alone. Subject to the production of a medical certificate of fitness from a registered medical practitioner, she will be retested for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) six weeks after her delivery. In accordance with the government’s instructions, as amended from time to time, she may be appointed to the position kept reserved for her and granted seniority.

Physical Standard Test (PST)

This test evaluates the physical standard of the candidates on the basis of three factors: height, chest, and weight. Physical standards for the posts are as follows:

Detailed Medical Examination (DME) 

The candidate will be called for a medical examination after passing the PET and PST. The objective of medical standards is to ensure that only medically fit candidates will be selected for the paramilitary force. The medical examination is based on the following criteria:

  • Your eyes should be 6/6.
  • You must learn to recognise colours (no colour blindness).
  • Laser surgery is not permitted.
  • If you put on glasses,you are rejected.
  • There should be no difficulty in hearing.
  • Your weight should be according to your length and age.
